The Annual Report of Holy Cross School, Aymanam, 2019- 2020

A pleasant good evening to one and all gathered here. Esteemed Chief Guest of the day Mr. Sursh Kurup, guest of Honor Dr. P. R. Sona, other dignitaries, all the invitees, and my dear friends, Holy Cross School is in the 19th year of its establishment. On this occasion, we are proud to present you the annual report of this academic year 2019-2020.

June 6th-Re-Opening day

  • The new academic year commenced on the 6th of June 2019. Fr. Jacob Cheeramvelil and Fr. Jijo Sebastian blessed the children. Fr. Johny Thekkemally, the principal of Holy Cross School addressed and welcomed all students and faculty to the new academic year.
  • The pre-primary school reopened on the 10th of June 2019. It started with students and their parents gathering on the open stage. The function began by singing God’s blessing for the new academic year 2019-2020. Students were welcomed with crayons and sweets.

Academic Excellence

Yet another academic year of success and achievement unfolded with an honor conferred on the 6th batch of class 10 students. A total of   students appeared for the exam, they achieved cent percent with high distinctions. Navaneeth. V., stood 1st with A1 grades in all subjects. Congratulations to our dear students. The present class X batch is preparing themselves for the Board exams hope and wish they’ll better the past year’s results. We wish you good luck.

The Staff

Fr. Santhosh Nazareth took charge as the Vice-principal of Holy Cross School. Deacon Siju Papachen, Trs. Siji, Athira, Hasna, Shyma & Joshy are the new additions to the staff. Ms. Maritza, Ms. Taylor and Mr. Daniel joined Holy Cross School from Stone-hill College in America at the beginning of the academic year. Their arrival brought new impetus to English speaking in the campus.

Staff Enrichment Program

The Holy Cross staff constantly strive to stay updated by attending workshops conducted by CBSE, such as Capacity building program, Hub of learning etc. The first training program was conducted in the month of May by Dr. Fr. Paul Pudussery CSC, Director of Asha, at Agarthala (Dt), in Tripura. Five day training for teachers at St. Louis High School, Mumbai was held.

Facilities

Our facilities include high quality infrastructure with full fledged computer lab, Science lab, Smart class boards and a well equipped library. Moreover we have a wonderful playground for our students to be active and physically fit. We have a beautiful park for KG students to play and enjoy. Quality drinking water with RO system. We have two busses for the transportation.

Houses and Co-Curricular Activities

Students are divided into four houses for various events and activities to foster all round development, cooperation, and team spirit.

Investiture Ceremony

It was on the 28th June, a spectacular occasion where the young students were invested to be the leaders and discharged the responsibility invested upon them. Fr. Santhosh Nazareth was welcomed to Holy Cross School, as Vice-Principal. The chief guest Mrs. Saly Jayachandran, the vice-president of Aymanam Panchayat along with Fr. Santhosh Nazareth placed the badges, lanyards, and sashes to the head-boy Boney Philip and head-girl Mithuna Aneesh, captains and vice-captains.

Independence Day

Independence Day was celebrated with great honour and patriotism. Sir. Karunakaran, was the chief guest of the event who hoisted the flag.

Teacher’s Day

On 5th September the students felicitated all the teachers and showed their appreciation by songs, dance and games.

Gandhi Jayanti Day

The 150th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday was celebrated where a day of cleanliness with the theme FIT INDIA MOVEMENT drive was held. The house wise work and cleanliness were organized. Class IX and X were involved in organizing the program SEWA. Fit India Movement March was held from the school to Aymanam.  The students had delicious Topioca and lime juice that was prepared by them to relish themselves.

Children’s Day

On 14th November, the birthday of Jawaharlal Nehru was celebrated in a grand way with variety of programs, organized by the teachers. Every class teacher provided some snacks to their children and performed many cultural activities and games. All were in great joy and children came dressed as Chacha Nehru. The children were served ice-creams to sweeten their joy of childhood.

Principal’s Day

On the 15th of January, we celebrated the birthday of our principal Fr. Johny Thekkemaly. Students from different classes performed various programs and greeted him with cards and flowers. Cake and Ice cream were served after the programs.

Onam Celebration. 6th Sept.

Onam, the harvest festival of Kerala, was celebrated with a great joy and enthusiasm. Fr. Joemon, CSC, was the chief guest. A  Mega ‘Thiruvathira’ was the main attraction of the day along with many traditional games. Payasm was prepared by the students of class X and distributed among the students.

Christmas -Celebration.  Dec.20

We celebrated Christmas on 20th December. The children participated in the celebration with friendly house-wise competitions such as making Christmas cards, Stars and Trees. Class X made crib. Cake was distributed to the students after the program.  The whole campus was bleeding red as children were dressed in red Santa clause dresses.

Maintenance Day Dec.20

The non-teaching staff plays an integral part of our school. They were felicitated on Christmas day and Christmas gifts were presented to them.

Social Out-reach Programs. Dec.21

The commitment of the institution to society is evident through the support and comfort extended by the staff and students to the poor, sick and needy .On 12th December students of class IX visited   Swanthanam   and class X visited Abhaya Bhavan. They donated clothes, sanitary wares and food items to them.

Spiritual Empowerment Programs

The first Friday of every month was welcomed by catholic students attending English mass at St. Anthony’s Church, while non Catholic students attended programs filled with thoughtful messages given by Brahma Kumaris and team.

Student Enrichment Program .29th July

  • Dr. Mathew, CMI, gave an awakening program for the Monitors, Assistant monitors, Captains, and Assistant captains of the school. This was an opportunity to hone the skills of leadership and become aware of the talents they have.
  • During this academic year, we had a de-worming program where students were given tablets.
  • On 26th June Mr. Binoy, Excise officer from Kottayam conducted a session for the students of class V-X on the topic of Drugs & Abuse. The session was given to the parents as well.
  • Yoga Week – was conducted which brought awareness of inner health, self-understanding, and sharpness of mind.
  • Students planted some tree saplings and thereby understand the importance of trees and need to protect our nature.
  • The students had the opportunities to watch and participate in the programs such as Pariksha Pe Charcha, Teachers Day, Yoga, Fit India Movement, etc, which were initiated by the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi.

Assessment

  • We conduct class test after each lesson
  • Periodic tests are held three times in a year after which the results are announced and Open House for the parents is held where in they interact with the Principal about the students’ growth academically.
  • Remedial classes are arranged for the weaker students periodically as and when needed.

CO-SCHOLASTIC ACTIVITIES

Clubs

The History, Maths, Literature, Nature, Science and Health clubs were inaugurated on 28th June, by Fr. Johny Thekkemaly. Each of the clubs had planned many activities throughout the year. Luncheon voice on FM 18@ Holy Cross School and ‘Hands on cooking experience’ were some of the events.

Science Expo

Science Expo was held on 5th October for half a day.  The Students of class V – X actively participated in the exhibition. They displayed still models and working models of many Science related things.

Arts and Sports, 5th Nov – 12th Nov.

  • Strenuous exercise and interest in games are outlets for the vigor of youth. Cultural programs and indoor competitions, named TARANG 2K19, where a week long competitions such as   -Essay writing, Mime, Group dance, Anchoring, meet the media etc were held.
  • Out-door competitions such as Race, Relay, Kabbadi, Foot ball, Cricket etc. were organized.
  • 16 students participated in the CBSE athletic meet in Labour India Public School.
  • Some of our students participated in various events organized by Sahoday Cultural Competitions.
  • Some of our students were skillful enough in skating and made us proud by getting medals.
  • Some students were awarded medals in Reading Habit and other competitions held by Panchayat Library wing.

KIDS sports Day

Our tiny-tots also participated in the arts and sports competitions. Parents of the KG students actively participated in many sports events. The day was organized by the students of class IX as part of their SEWA program.

Tour and Picnic

Students of class X went to Bengaluru and Mysore along with teachers for a four-day tour.

Graduation Day

It was the first time in the history of Holy Cross School, Aymanam that we have introduced graduation ceremony for the students of UKG who graduate themselves to Primary School.

2017-2018

Holy Cross School is in its 17th year of establishment. On this occasion we are proud to present you the annual report of the academic year 2017-2018.

June 1st: RE-OPENING DAY

The new academic year commenced on 1st June 2017. Rev. Fr. Johny Thekkemaly, the principal of the school addressed and welcomed all the students and faculty of Holy Cross School to the new academic year. 

The theme for the Year

Celebrate nature and liberate the future! Was the theme for the year, with view to instill in our students to have respect for mother earth. The entire year’s programmes were based on this theme and finally the theme was wonderfully depicted in the annual day programme.   

June 5th Pre-Primary opening

The Pre-Primary was started with students and their parents gathering in the open stage. It began by seeking God’s blessing for the new academic year 2017-2018. Students were welcomed with flowers and sweets by our principle. 

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

As you all know the fourth batch of Class X who had appeared for all India Secondary School Board Examination 2016-2017 had come out with flying colours. They achieved cent percent results with high distinctions. Seven students got full A1 grades in all subjects. Congratulations to our dear students. The present batch of Class X is preparing themselves to outshine the past records. Wish you good luck.

Our students participated in various scholarships such as Asia, PCM,  and Cyber Olympiad in Maths, Science, and English. Twenty five students secured Asia scholarship and seven of them got selection in state level. Boney Philip of class VII got 19th position in state level Asia scholarship examination. Six students received scholarship in Cyber Olympiad and eleven students in PCM scholarship. 

Congratulations to all the participants and kudos to all the winners of the scholarships, they have made Holy Cross School proud.

THE STAFF

Miss Marissa Jordan and Molly Powers joined Holy Cross School from Stonehill University America at the beginning of the academic year. Their arrival gave new impetus to English speaking in the campus.

The Holy Cross staff participated in many training programmes conducted by CBSE. The first training was given by Mr. Biju Along with this training the staff participated in other training programmes such as Hindi and English Revolution in Education.

HOUSES AND ACTIVITIES

Students are divided into four different houses for various events and activities to foster their all-round development, co-operation and, team spirit. They have house mistresses and captains to lead them.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY

It was on 12th July in a solemn occasion where the young students were prepared to don the mantle of leadership and discharge the responsibilities entrusted upon them. The function began with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony. The cabinet members marched to the stage accompanied by the school band.

The Chief Guests placed the badges, lanyards, and sashes to Head Boy Navaneeth S, Head Girl Anakha Binu, captains and vice captains. 

INDEPENDENCE DAY

On the 70th celebration of Independence Day, The Head Boy Navaneeth S, Head Girl Anakha Binu with the school band accompanied the Chief Guests Fr. John Denning the President of Stonehill College of USA to the stage. The Four Houses led by the Captains marched like the Indian Army. The National Flag was hoisted by Advocate Mr. Joppan,   The school choir sang patriotic song.

August 15th : SOCIAL OUTREACH PROGRAMMES 

 The commitment of this institution to society is evident through the support and comfort extended by the staff and students to the poor, sick, and needy. Students of various classes together with principal, staff and Fr. Denning visited Asraya Gandhinagar, near medical college and donated grocery items to the institution who cater to the poor inmates of medical college hospital.

TEACHERS’ DAY 

The students showed their love and concern towards the staff on September 5th by songs, dance, skit, greeting cards and flowers.

ONAM CELEBRATION 

The school celebrated Onam on August 30th for primary students and August 31st for the secondary students. The day was marked by various activities such as, payasam preparation, floral design making, tug-of-war, Sreeman Sreemati competitions.

November 14th: CHILDREN’S DAY 

Children’s Day was celebrated with passion. All were in great joy and the children came dressed like Chacha Nehru. Teachers showed their love and affection to the students and made them feel special by entertaining them with skits, songs, and beautiful messages. The students and teachers had a rally as part of the celebration. The ice-cream served brought more sweetness to the day.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION 

We celebrated Christmas on December 22rd by  welcoming our chief guest Ms. Ellen Powers mother of madam Molly Poweres from USA. The students participated in the celebration with some friendly house wise competitions such as Christmas tree making, decorating Christmas cards, fancy dress for pre-primary and primary students, Christmas carols and a skit. Students brought snacks and Christmas gifts which they shared with their friends. It was a memorable day.

MAINTENANCE DAY

The non-teaching staff is an integral part of our school. We showed our love and appreciation towards them in a very special way on December 22rd. We presented each member of the non-teaching staff with gifts.

PRINCIPAL’S DAY 

On 15th January Holy Cross School celebrated the birthday of Principal Fr. Jonhy Thekemally as Principal’s Day. Students from all classes greeted him with handmade cards and performed various programs.

SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

The Alumni met in December when most of the students came together and shared the nostalgia of their former days.

GUIDANCE & COUNSELING 

Special interest is taken to diagnose the academic backwardness of children in various areas. We conducted evening extra class for those seeking more support in different subjects. 

SPIRITUAL EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMMES

The first Friday of every month was welcomed by catholic students by attending  Holy Mass, and the same time the other students engage with documentaries or classes related to moral and social issues conducted by the members of Brahma Kumaris. 

CO-SCHOLASTIC ACTIVITIES

August 2nd: CULTURAL FEST

Cultural Week was celebrated with students of four different houses competing with great excitement in a variety of events in the area of arts, literature, music, and dance. Every student was given opportunities to express their talents.

January 5th: CLUB DAY

The History, Math, Literature, Nature, and Health Clubs activities for the year was inaugurated by chief guest Mr. Sherif Ahammad Hassen BDO of Ettumanoor.  Along with the club inauguration, Harithsena was also inaugurated.  This initiative airms to protect nature.  Each club gave a spectacular presentation of activities and events. The different clubs planned and hosted numerous programmers throughout the academic year. Luncheon voice on FM18 @Holy Cross, word of the day, Hands on cooking Experience were some of the events conducted by various clubs.  

January 26th Republic Day

The Republic day celebration was started by 8 o’clock.  Mrs. Leelama Thomas the senior most member of the gathering from the PTA hoisted the Flag.

SPORTS DAY

In October Pre-primary conducted fun filled sports activities and some parents’ also participated in various competitions. The top three students and parents in each event received prizes.

On October 5th and 6th we conducted sports meet. We started the day with the lighting of the torch as house captains and leaders assembled in the ground. Mr. Ginesh the PRO of Karikkineth Silk Villagio delivered the message on sportsmanship. The top three students in each event received medals and certificates.

Our students participated in  Sahodaya Athletic Meet. Madhav of class IV stood in the 6th position.

October 12th SAHODYA CULTURAL COMPETITIONS 

Our students participated in numerous events at Sahodya Cultural Competition. We are very proud of our students who earned distinctions and recognition for their hard work. Congratulations students.

December 2nd : SCHOOL FETE 

It has become an annual event of the school where parents, teachers, students, and management came together. There were various programs like cinematic dance competitions, comedy show, musical performances, and parents dance. Various food stalls and game stalls kept everyone busy. It was a huge success thanks dear parents for your support. 

TOUR & PICNIC

Class X students enjoyed a 3-day adventure in Bangalore and Mysore.

PARENT-TEACHER ASSOCIATION  

The Parent Teacher Association plays a vital role in all the activities of our school. The PTA seeks parents’ participation and feedbacks about the daily events taking place at school. Members of the PTA participated and gave full support in this year’s Fete. 

HEALTH

During this academic year there were many programmers conducted by various health processional educating students on health management.  One of the more prominent programmers was the school wise vaccination for Rubella Measles.  

FAREWELL 

With heavy hearts a farewell was given to Ms. Marissa.  and Ms. Molly our guest teachers from Stone hill University America. We also bid farewell to the present class X students together with regent, wishing them all the best on their exams and future life.

HARITHA SENA 

On January 5th Holy Cross School inaugurated Haritha Sena in partnership to protect the nature by collecting plastics. 

Annual Day

Celebrate the Nature and liberate the Future – was performed very well by the students.  The teachers worked hard to exhibit the theme.  Awareness was brought out to protect our mother earth.

2016-17

Holy Cross School is in its 16th year of establishment. Over the years it has succeeded in serving the students’ community effectively. On this occasion we are proud to present you the annual report of the academic year 2016-2017.

The theme for the Year

Ma Tuze Salam, (We salute you mother) was the theme for the year, with view to instill in our students to have respect for their parents. The entire year’s programmes were based on this theme and finally the theme was wonderfully depicted in the annual day programme.   

RE-OPENING DAY

The new academic year commenced, after the summer holidays, on 1st June 2016. Rev. Fr. Johny Thekkemaly, the principal of the school addressed the students and welcomed them to the new academic year. 

The Pre-Primary inaugural was held on June 5th with students and their parents gathering in the open stage. It began by seeking God’s Blessing and welcoming students with flowers and sweets. 

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE

As you all know the third batch of Class X who had appeared for all India Secondary School Board Examination 2015-2016 had come out with flying colours. They achieved cent percent results with high distinctions. Sona Sebastian stood 1st with full A1 grades in all subjects. Congratulations to our dear students. Hope the present batch of Class X students will outshine the past records. Various awards are instituted for academic excellence. Student to student interaction and study was organized for the students of Class IX through Skype.

Our students participated in various scholarships such as Asia, PCM, Gate, MEC, Sahodaya, and Cyber Olympiad in Maths, Science, and English. Many of our students secured distinction, some received selection at state and district levels. 

Congratulations to all the participants and kudos to all the winners of the scholarships, they have made Holy Cross School proud.

Mr. Daniel Gordon and Mr. O`Shane Morgan, joined Miss Sarah and Nikki from Stonehill University America at the beginning of the academic year. Their arrival gave new impetus to English speaking in the campus. The orientation program conducted by Fr. Thampi in the Month of June 13th & 14th gave a new direction to the staff.  Some of them attended a two-day CBSE COE Teacher Training Programmes for Mathematics, Social Science, English, Classroom Management and Inclusive Education, and Advanced Seminars in English Education.

On the 69th celebration of Independence Day, Holy Cross School was full of great enthusiasm and respect for our Nation. The Head Boy Abey J. Lukose and Head Girl Aleena Sebastian along with the school band accompanied the Chief Guests to the stage. The Four Houses led by the Captains marched like the Indian Army. The National Flag was hoisted by Mr. Alichan, the Panchayat President.  The school choir sang patriotic song. The Head Boy Abey J. Lukose gave Independence Day speech. 

TEACHERS’ DAY 

The students showed their love and concern towards the staff on September 5th by songs, dance, skit, greeting cards and flowers.

ONAM CELEBRATION 

The school celebrated Onam on September 8th for primary students and September 9th for the secondary students. The day was marked by various activities such as, payasam preparation, floral design making based on the theme ‘Mother’, tug-of-war, Sreeman Sreemati competition.

October 4th: SWACH BHARAT

As part of Swach Bharat Mission, students from classes V to X came together to clean the school campus. Everyone worked hard to flower plants and keep the surroundings clean. 

November 5th: PARENTS’ ORIENTATION

We had an orientation programme for the parents conducted by Dr. Aby Daniel A. to help them to understand different ways to help their child or children succeed inside the class, at home and in society.

November 14th: CHILDREN’S DAY

Teachers showed their love and affection to the students and made them feel special by entertaining them with skits, songs, and beautiful messages. December 22nd: SOCIAL OUTREACH PROGRAMMES

Student of Class X visited Abhaya Bhawan, Kanjikkushy to celebrate Christmas with the inmates, contributing things of their daily needs such as soap, powder, toothpaste, Dettol, toothpaste, etc. Our students performed  dance and sang together with the inmates making them happy and loved.

We celebrated Christmas on December 23rd with some friendly house wise competitions such as Christmas tree making, decorating Christmas cards, fancy dress for pre-primary and primary students, Christmas carols and a skit. On 16th January Holy Cross School celebrated the birthday of Principal Fr. Jonhy Thekemally as Principal’s Day. The House Captains along with the school band welcomed him to the stage with great enthusiasm. Students from all classes greeted him with handmade cards and performed various programs. Later a get together of the management, staff, PTA executive committee, and the non-teaching staff was organized.

GUIDANCE & COUNSELING 

Special interest is taken to diagnose the academic backwardness of children in various areas. We conducted evening extra class for those seeking more support in different subjects. Over the academic year we have invited different guests to speak with both students and parents for social and academic developments.

Sr. Sunitha Rubi spoke with the students from classes VIII to X about growing and being more responsible.

November 25th: CAREER EXPLORATION 

To help students develop their ambition for the future, Holy Cross School brought in Tiny Seed’s Educator Mr. Shiju to conduct a program on discovering the vast opportunities and career paths that our students can pursue in the future. 

In order to nourish the moral and spiritual development of our students, every first Friday of the month we arrange for confession, Holy Mass, and spiritual empowerment for Catholic students and the same time other students engage with documentaries related to moral and social issues.

SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION 

The Alumni Association meeting was held in December, when most of the former students came together and shared the nostalgia of their former school days.

Our students participated in Football Tournament, Throw ball Tournament, Interschool Chess Championship and Sahodaya Athletic Meet at various schools.

October 2nd: GANDHIJAYANTHI  

To mark the occasion, the students cleaned up the campus and made the environment cleaner and neater.

October 20th-22nd: SAHODYA CULTURAL COMPETITIONS 

Our students participated in numerous events at Sahodya Cultural Competition. We are very proud of our students who earned distinctions and recognition for their hard work. Congratulations students.

October 28th: SCIENCE EXPO

Students from classes V-X conducted science projects ranging from biogas plant, hydroelectric stations, solar panels, etc. Students and parents came to show their support to the entire students who worked hard to showcase their exceptional understanding of science and the world. It was telecasted by the Star Vision TV Channel.

December 10th: SCHOOL FETE

It has become an annual event of the school where parents, teachers, students, and management came together. There were various programs like cinematic dance competitions, comedy show, musical performances, and parents dance. Various food stalls and game stalls kept everyone busy. It was a huge success thanks dear parents for your support.

Students of KG to class II went to Alleppy along with class teachers and parents. Students of class III to VIII went to Silver Storm at Athirappally. Class X students enjoyed a 3-day adventure in Bangalore and Mysore.

PARENT-TEACHER ASSOCIATION  

The Parent Teacher Association plays a vital role in all the activities of our school. The PTA seeks parents’ participation and feedbacks about the daily events taking place at school. Members of the PTA participated and gave full support in this year’s Fete. 

HEALTH

On August 10th and February 10th a team of officers visited from Mali Dispensary and gave deworming tablets for the students of class I to X. With parent’s approval students were given TT Toxoid to improve their health. 

FAREWELL 

With heavy hearts a farewell was given to Sarah Dunsing and Nicole Zolli our guest teachers from Stonehill University America. We also bid farewell to the present class X students, wishing them all the best on their exams and future life.

HARITHA KERALA 

Haritha Kerala was inaugurated here in the school. Vegetables seed were distributed to the students.

Luminous Holy Cross, the school magazine, brings out writers, poets, and artists among the students.

Annual Day

25th February we celebrated our annual day. It was a spectacular display of our Theme, Ma Tuze Salam.  All the grandparents were the chief guests of the day.  We didn’t have any other dignitaries but the parents to distribute prizes and honour our children.  It was indeed something different and everyone appreciated our efforts.

Hereby we submit the report for your kind approval. We put on record all the services and participation of our parents and people of goodwill for the development of our school.  Together we will march towards excellence.  Ma Tuze Salam!

2015-16

Holy Cross School always aims at holistic development of the human person, so that the students become intellectually enlightened, morally upright and emotionally integrated.

Theme for the Year 2015-16

Glorious Past and Shining Future was the theme for the year.  Through this theme we strived to be in touch with our state’s roots and hoped for a better tomorrow.  Throughout the year we had conducted various programme to instill in our students love for their mother state, Kerala.    

VIDHYARAMBAM

The new academic year commenced after the summer holidays on 1st of June 2015 by invoking God’s blessings. Rev. Fr. Anthony Ninanparampil former vicar of Aikkarachira parish blessed the school and the students. And Bro. Joel Mendonca and teacher Alphonsama Joseph were welcomed. Principal Rev. Fr. Johny Thekkemally addressed the students and staff and welcomed all the students to the new academic year. New students were welcomed by presenting them a flower. 

Academic Achievements 

“Success depends on effort and it is the sum total of all small efforts”. We are proud that the second batch of class X who appeared for the Board examination 2014-15 had come out cent percent results with high distinctions. Aravind A has got full A1 grades in all subjects. Congratulations dear students. Hope the present batch of 10th std will keep up the same standard of the school.  

Scholarships are most often given to students for achievement in academic study. A gift of knowledge can take you to the top of the world to achieve your dreams, turning into a reality. The teachers and management of the Holy Cross School try their best by guiding our students to the path of knowledge by exposing them to various competitions.

Many of our students appeared for different scholarships such as Asia, PCM, Gate, MEC, Sahodaya etc, many of them passed with distinction. Some students got selection in state level and distinct level. Congratulations to all the participants and kudos to the winners of the scholarship 

The Staff

The success is also the combined effort of the teachers whose supreme art is to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge. We are fortunate to have well trained, experienced and dedicated teachers. This year we have seven new teachers Archana K, Alphonsama Joseph, Siji Mary Jacob, Emily M. K, Athira, Br. Joel Mendonca and Br. Jijo Philip for different subjects. We also have two International guest teachers Nicole Zolli and Sarah Dunsing from Stonehill University, America. Besides them we have also have enthusiastic team of teachers for P.T, dance, music, karate, yoga, school band etc. “Teachers are also learners”. Staying updated is the key to success in any field especially in the field of education.  

Facilities 

Our facilities include quality infrastructure with full fledged computer lab, science lab, smart class boards and well equipped library, newly installed water purifier, electronic facilities and a generator.  We have two school buses for students. Moreover we have a wonderful playground for moulding future athlets for our country. Now a well equipped language lab is ready for the students.

Students are divided into four houses for various activities to inculcate their all round development, co operation and team spirit. 

INVESTITURE CEREMONY

“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, then you are a leader.”-John Quincy Adams.

On the fine morning of 10 July, deserving young talents of our school were bestowed with the responsibility of leading their school from the front with their commitment, confidence and competence. The Investiture ceremony thus marked a significant beginning of the new academic session. It was a solemn occasion where the young students were all prepared to don the mantle of leadership and discharge the responsibilities entrusted upon them by the school.The prestigious ceremony began with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Senior Advocate Mr.A.V George, Mr. Alichan, President of panchayat, Sr.Rosalina Myppan, the former provincial of Sisters of Providence, Kudayampady and Sr.Reji and Rev.Fr. Johny Thekemaly, the principal of the school with the head Captain Nikhil Kurian and assistant head captain Aisha Hakkim received the Chief Guest.

The function began with the traditional lamp lighting ceremony by the Chief Guests together with the Principal, Rev.Fr. Johny Thekkemaly

Rev.Fr. Biju Lawrence, Parish priest of Changalam, Rev. Fr. Jijo Sebastian, administrator of the school and many other fathers and well wishers were present for the ceremony. The cabinet members marched sprightly and majestically in sync with the beating of the drums to the school ground for the proceedings. The bold music played by the band instilled pride in marching students. They firmly believed that every duty is holy and devotion to duty is the highest form of worship.

The students were given badges, lenyards and sashes as the symbol of their responsibility.

Students are divided into four houses for various activities to inculcate their all-round development, co operation and team spirit. Our school Football team participated in various tournaments conducted in different schools.   

Clubs

Club inauguration was held on 30th October 2015. This year our club activities were inaugurated by our principal Rev. Fr. Johny Thekkemally. A full day program was organized by different clubs on that day.

Literary club had conducted a debate on the advantages and disadvantages of mobile phone. They also conducted spelling test. Health club presented a power point presentation based on alcohol and drugs. Mathematics club organized a quiz competition. Science club arranged funny experiments from science. Nature club member cleaned the school campus and formed a garden.

This year the tropical institute of Ecology science, Kottayam, supported by Korean Green Foundation, Seoul, Korea organizing a program the Meenachil river protection. They have selected 15 schools form kottayam district. Holy Cross school Aymanam is also selected. This project envisages developing a database on the river biodiversity, related traditional knowledge and on conversation issues through a survey including awareness programmes by the students. Nature club students and teachers are doing this activities.

Children’s Day

Children’s day is a day to engage in fun and frolic. Here in the Holy Cross school we celebrated children’s day with great big bang. All were in great joy and the children came dressed like Cha-cha Nehru. After the school assembly, guided by our principal Fr. Johny Thekemmally, the students and teachers went for the children’s Rally which is considered as an integral part of the children’s day celebrations.

At the completion of the rally there was a gathering on the school ground. Our teachers showed their love and affection to the students and made them feel special on that day by entertaining them with skit songs and message. It was indeed a memorable event for all. 

Independence day

68th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and respect at Holy Cross School Aymanam. Principal Rev. Fr. Johny csc welcomed the gathering and introduced the chief guest Rev. Fr. Leo D’souza. Head boy Nikhil Kurrian and Head Girl Aisha Hakkim received the chief guest accompanied by school band. Four houses along with their captains did march past. National flag was hoisted by Rev. Fr. Leo D’souza. School choir sung a patriotic song. 68 years since gaining independence, India has emerged as a powerful global force and largest democracy in the world has achieved several landmarks in the fields of sports, space and science and technology.

Teacher’s day celebration

One of the unforgettable day in any teacher’s life is the teachers day celebration. On this day the students showed their love and concern towards the teachers through songs, dance, skit etc. they also give us greeting cards and flowers as a sign of their gratitude to us. They conducted some party games for the teachers. After the celebration in the school all the teachers together went for a boating where we enjoyed being with each other.

Onam Celebration

Onam our national festival of Kerala was organized in our school by teachers and students. On August 21st we made Payasam in our own kitchen with the support of staff and students. It was so delicious and got a remarkable and marvelous position in our taste buds. We made floral design and made many programs on that day. We also conducted inter-house tug of war competition, Sreeman Sreemathi conmpetition etc. during the lunch time Payasam was distributed to all the students. Onam was celebrated with great pleasure and enthusiasm. All were in high spirit and pride.

Christmas Celebration

We celebrated Christmas on December 18th; Rev. Fr. Biju csc gave the Christmas message to us. After that house wise competitions like Christmas card making, tree making, fancy dress competition for preprimary and primary students were conducted. Christmas carols were also sung. Students shared snacks and Christmas gifts and all teaching and non-teaching staff exchanged their Christmas gifts with great enthusiasm.

Maintenance day

The non-teaching staff is the integral part of our school. We appreciated and facilitated them on maintenance day on 18th December along with Christmas day celebration and Gifts were presented to them in a wonderful function. 

School fete

It was conducted on 12th December. This occasion brought together the various programs like interschool cinematic dance competitions, margamkali, comedy show, Acabelle, and Appachans dance. Food stalls and game stalls gave full life to the function. The parents and teachers put all their ability to show their attitude in collecting funds for the language lab through the school fete. Our chief guest was Mr. Suresh Kurup MLA. It brought parents, teachers, and students management. 

Co-Scholastic activities

Cultural fest

The cultural day celebration was organized on 31st July 2015. The cultural fest was inaugurated by our principal Rev. Fr. Johny csc and the same was a real display of the talents of our students. It took a whole week to complete the various cultural competitions for all the sections. Opportunity was given to all those students who wish to express their talents in cultural activities.  

Sports day

Sports day is an important event that affects both the mental and physical positioning of the human body. It gives an opportunity to show energy, sportsman spirit, team work etc. It was held on 19th and 20th August Principal Fr. Johny csc welcomed all the participants. Teachers guided with P.T sir conducted the sports day events. All the houses exquisitely displayed their team work, discipline and perfect synchronization. Fr. Johny csc Fr. Antony Nainan Parambil Fr. Jose csc distributed the medals and mementos for the winners. In the history of Holy Cross School it is the first time parents participated in the sports. Prizes were distributed by Rev. Fr. Leo D’souza csc the provincial superior of Holy Cross School.  

Picnic

Our students and teacher’s outdoor activities included picnics to various places like ‘I drive park, wonderla, I drive water park, Mysore and Bangalore. 

Principal’s day 

On 15th January the Holy Cross School celebrated the birthday of Rev.  Fr. Johny Thekemally  csc as principal’s day. The house captains with band set welcomed him and other fathers of Holy Cross on to the stage. Children greeted him with handmade cards and performed various programs. Later a get-together of the management, staff, PTA executive committee and non-teaching staff of Holy Cross School was held to share the joy of the occasion.  

PTA

Parent teacher association plays a vital role in all the activities of our school. PTA meetings have been regularly conducted to review the activities of the school and seek the parent’s participation and feedbacks about our activities. PTA had a great role to make the school fete a successful one. 

Counseling

Counseling is an integral component of the educational mission of the school. Counseling classes are rendering by the professionally qualified counselor Rev. Fr. Alexander Cheruvil. Students of class 8 to 10 had a special class conducted by Dr. Sr. Marcelina.

Skill development

Teachers attended special training sessions and workshops organized by experts periodically. 

Farewell

It always gives us immense joy to welcome someone into a family, but it is very painful to bid them good bye. But after accomplishing the assigned job, one has to leave for another assignment. With a heavy heart a fare well has given to our Fr. Jijo sebastin, the administrator of Holy Cross School on 25th November 2015.

Alumni

On 20th November the first and second batch of class 10 students were invited and formed the alumni association. Mikhil kurian and Anjitha kunjumon were selected as the president and the vise president of the association.

Health

If wealth is lost nothing is lost, but if health is lost everything is lost. On 21st January a team visited from Mali dispensary and injected TT Toxoid for the children of class 5 and 10. To make the children aware the diseases, their body and precautionary measures a we visited a medical exhibition conducted by the students of medical college on 11th September.

School Magazine

‘Luminous Holy Cross’ brings out the writers, poets and artists among the students. The students are given opportunities to exhibit their literary skills.

Annual Day

Glorious Past and Shining Future was clearly depicted during the function.  The parents, dignitaries and all those present appreciated the hardwork of the staff and management especially our children to put up spectacular display of various aspects of Kerala, its past , present and future.

Conclusion

We thank God almighty for the abundant blessings He has showered upon our school during this academic year. We will continue to strive for excellence and do every effort for achieving the heights with the support of everyone.  Our students should be responsible citizen of our nation.
